Liberal Democrats poll almost 18,000 in Skipton & Ripon in May 2010 General Election.

Our best result since the seventies.  A great platform on which to build.

Our short four month campaign led to us to increase our votes by 4,000 to almost 18,000 (enough for an MP elected elsewhere) and manage a 5.8% increase in the percentage of our vote to 32.4%, whilst the Tories remained roughly flat.  We are now a very strong second to the Tories and closing.  All t

his against a strong national swing for the Tories, especially in LibDem-Tory battles.

It has been a good start - for which we owe an debt of gratitude to the voters of Skipton & Ripon and to the enormous number of entirely unpaid LibDem volunteers who worked tirelessly in the election campaign, especially in respect to the amount of literature distributed.
